Episode 007 – Casting the seed for the beginning of wisdom

Welcome to the seventh episode of Frequent Apostolic Questions. This is THE podcast about getting answers to your bible questions. The first couple of things I should let you know if you are new to this podcast is: I am just an average guy. I am not a pastor, apostle, evangelist or prophet that I know of, a teacher, I may be because if you learn something from this then you were taught, ergo I would be a teacher, right? So anyways, lets get into some of this word stuff.

Grab Bag Segment
In this segment we go over the most recent Grab Bag posted on the website. If there were any questions in regard to the Grab Bag, then we would answer those questions here and expand on it here in the podcast.

So, here is the first question!

What is the purpose of Baptism?

Colossians 2:12
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

The answer here is: to be buried with him, for the remission of sins, to be able to enter into the kingdom of God. If anyone would like a little further explanation about this, please let me know! On to the next question!

What is the fear of the Lord?

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Yes, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of “taking the facts and acting thereupon”.

How much are we supposed to pray?

1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.

I don’t think a time frame can be put on “how much we are supposed to pray” from the verse given above. There could be exceptions for when we sleep. But even then, it’s still possible :) people have spoken to God in their sleep in the bible, so I really don’t see how it isn’t possible to pray without ceasing :D Well, the Lord spoke with Jacob in Genesis 28 if anyone else is curious about that.

Wide Open Word Segment
In this segment we go over the moments where people go WOW when they are reading the word. Things just start getting put together and then a chain reaction and before you know it someone is just lost in thought over the whole thing. Or something simple that clicks when you might have read it a thousand times but now it just makes complete sense.

Seed Casting

Matthew 13
1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

QnA Segment
This segment is where I answer some of the emails received which are a little tougher to put into the Grab Bag. They may be questions from the comments as well. Also if there are any recordings sent to me for this segment then I will put those in here as well. The depth of the question will always vary. So some questions may take longer to explain than others, like where vs who in today’s QnA segment.

I know that you have defined the Kingdom of God in one of the early grab bag posts, but below are some additional questions relative to the topic.

Where is the Kingdom of God? Answer Second

Luke 17:21
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Who shall and shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Answered Third

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

What must one do in order to see and enter the Kingdom of God? Answered First

John 3:3, 5
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Update about my life: The house thing which I mentioned in a podcast a while back ended up falling through which I am fine with. The problem wall thing we ran into was financing, we couldn’t get any. A couple of weeks ago the Brother who prayed for me and I received the Holy Ghost came back to church and he prayed for me. A house and land, he also prayed the spirit of a scholar on me. So I asked him about this afterward and he said A house on 2 acres and then 7 acres. He explained he didn’t know what that meant maybe the house would come on 2 acres and the other 5 would come later. I asked him where it would be and he said “in the area” but that could be anywhere. But before all that happened he prayed for Vanessa, my wife, and she got the Holy Ghost! It was so exciting!

Also, my wife is now about a month away from getting the second bun out of the oven. Yep, number two is almost here. The pictures show us it’s a girl but you all know the pictures could be wrong, but as of now, the name for the new one is Evelyn Rose.
