Hello everybody and welcome to another week of Frequent Apostolic Questions. My name is Dakota Sutcliffe and this is THE podcast about getting answers to your bible questions.
Segments for Today:
Grab Bag
WOW
Grab Bag Segment
In this segment we go over the most recent Grab Bag posted on the website. If there were any questions in regard to the Grab Bag, then we would answer those questions here and expand on it here in the podcast.
Who was king David’s great grandmother?
Matthew 1:5-6
5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
Lets see what order they came in a more simple manner.
Boaz and Ruth
Obed
Jesse
David
So David’s father was Jesse, his grandfather was Obed, his great grandfather and grandmother were Boaz and Ruth.
Ruth was his great grandmother. :)
How many fish did the disciples catch when the net was not broken?
John 21:11
Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.
They pulled 153 fish out of the water. There were so many, they had to pull the net onto the land. And of all of that, the net did not brake. :)
What defiles a man? -Olive
Matthew 15:11
11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
And further explanation is here:
Matthew 15:18-20
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
So, it’s what comes out of the mouth which defiles a man. I feel like the scripture explains it clearly here: those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart. And I don’t know of any way else to word it.
WOW Segment
This is the Wide Open Word segment. In this segment we go over the moments where people go WOW when they are reading the word or hear it preached. Things just start getting put together and then a chain reaction and before you know it someone is just lost in thought over the whole thing. Or something simple that clicks when you might have read it a thousand times but now it just makes complete sense.
Matthew 12:34-35
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.Luke 6:45
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
